Creative Uses For Wallpaper in Your Home

Wallpaper is versatile and you can use it in various ways in your home, from eye-catching feature walls to sophisticated backdrops for display cases
Wallpaper has made a comeback recently and we have to agree that using bespoke wallpaper in your home is a great, cost-effective, way to get creative and add pattern or colour to a room that needs sprucing up.
We have put together some creative ideas for using wallpaper in your home:
Feature Wall
One of the most popular requests for custom wallpaper we get at Captain Cyan is for a feature wall. Use your favourite wallpaper pattern, or even a blown-up photograph, on a single wall in your bedroom or living room, setting it off with a complementary colour on the remaining walls.
Display Space
Make a display space truly stand out with some metallic, floral wallpaper. Fitting behind shelves, the wallpaper can make vases, photo frames and candlesticks immediately draw the eye of people in the room.
You can also use wallpaper to line the backs of cupboards for your dish-ware, which will make white plates and bowls stick out.
Fireplace
Add emphasis to your fireplace, which is often the focal point of the room, with a bit of wallpaper. Using larger, fun prints are a great way to bring colour to the room and can be complemented with a paler tone on the other walls.
Frame It
You don’t need an entire wall of wallpaper to make a big effect. Create wall art by cutting squares of matching – or mismatched – wallpaper in various patterns and framing them. This simple display is very eye-catching!
Table Toppers
Transform a plain coffee table with decorative wallpaper. Place the paper directly on top of the table surface, then use a top sheet to keep the paper in place. You can also swap the paper out to change with the holidays, or to keep the living space fresh.
Panelling
If you feel floor to ceiling wallpaper is too much, opt for panelling. By using individual lengths of wallpaper, framed within paint mouldings, you can renovate a dull home office space into something bright and cheerful, without splashing out on wall art.
Disguise
Wallpaper can be effectively used to disguise a wall’s imperfections and even manipulate space to look bigger. Using stripes of wallpaper, that contrasts well with the other walls, can make an unattractive wall a beautiful part of the home.
Doors and Arches
Adding bespoke wallpaper to a door frame or archway in your home can add style and sophistication to your home. Using a gentle pattern, with pastel colours will help open up the doorway too, and feel more welcoming.
Furnishings
Wallpaper is incredibly versatile and can be used to upcycle old furniture, giving it a new lease of life. Vinyl coated wallpaper is durable, and best suited to use on furniture, such as tables and chairs.
Use bold and colourful wallpaper on the seats and backs of chairs to brighten up your kitchen dining furniture.
